We offer a fully mobile service - most of our equipment (X-ray machine, scanners, endoscope etc) is portable - and we are happy to perform most work at your premises.  However, it is often advantageous for investigations and procedures to be carried out at our new purpose-built clinic.

For example, for lameness investigations we have a safe, level trot-up, an all-weather lunging arena and dedicated rooms for radiography and ultrasonography.  It is particularly helpful that we can X-ray your horse at the clinic where we can immediately develop the films, allowing us to take other views or exposures if indicated to highlight the problem area.  The same procedure carried out at your premises may entail repeated visits.

For surgical cases, our facilities include a padded induction/recovery room and adjoining well-equipped operating theatre, both of which help to minimise the risks associated with general anaesthesia.

Here's a plan of the clinic: click on a room to read more...

In the Office/Reception room, you will find a comfortable waiting area with tea, coffee and biscuits always available.

Examination Room 1 has non-slip rubber flooring and a weighing pad.  It is used for initial examination/diagnosis of the patient.

Examination Room 2 has non-slip rubber flooring and stocks designed by an equine vet to ensure the safety of your horse - and your vet.

The Induction/Recovery Room has fully padded walls and floor to minimise the chance of injury to your horse during induction or recovery from anaesthesia.  A hoist and overhead gantry system permits safe transfer to and from the operating theatre.

Adjoining the induction room, the Operating Theatre is equipped with an hydraulically adjustable operating table.  We use isoflurane gas anaesthetic and have excellent equipment to monitor your horse while under anaesthetic.  The dedicated operating theatre means we can minimise the risk of infection to surgery patients.  See photos of hernia operation here.

The X-Ray Room is designed to allow us to take radiographs in a suitable environment as efficiently as possible.  Our X-rays are digitally developed to allow us to identify even the most subtle changes.

Our well-ventilated Looseboxes have rubber floors and dust-free bedding is used for your horse’s comfort.  The boxes house inpatients and provide a comfortable rest area for day patients such as lame horses waiting for nerve blocks to ‘take’ or for X-rays to be developed.

The Laboratory (Upstairs) is used for blood tests, faecal analysis, worm egg counts, thawing and processing of frozen semen etc..

Exterior Facilities include ample parking, a safe and level trot-up, enclosed, all-weather lunging arena, Joint Measuring Board approved measuring pad and weighbridge.  We also have the use of safe turnout facilities and a horse walker.
